Senators must call for Brett Kavanaugh to withdraw
For Immediate Release: Sept. 27, 2018
WASHINGTON D.C. - After historically partisan testimony from Brett Kavanaugh — that followed Dr. Christine Blasey Ford’s compelling testimony recounting sexual assault at the hands of Brett Kavanaugh — Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee are still scheduled to vote on Kavanaugh’s nomination on Friday. Planned Parenthood issued the following statement.
Quote from Dawn Laguens, Executive Vice President, Planned Parenthood Federation of America:
Today, people around the country watched in stunned silence as Dr. Christine Blasey Ford shared a dark and traumatic memory, unequivocally naming her attacker under oath. They watched as she was put on trial by a professional prosecutor who questioned her memory and her credibility. Then, they watched as the men of the majority party on the committee tripped over themselves to shield Brett Kavanaugh — whose testimony was hyperpartisan and belligerent — and dismiss Dr. Blasey Ford.
“There is a cloud over this nomination, and today’s proceedings only added to it. This hearing was a disgrace. If they were serious about uncovering the truth they should have called for full, impartial FBI investigation and testimony by multiple witnesses. Millions of women and countless survivors were watching today, and they saw a Senate majority that has abandoned them. Senators must call for Brett Kavanaugh to withdraw.
