Planned Parenthood Condemns Acts of Terror in Pittsburgh and Louisville
For Immediate Release: Oct. 28, 2018 (Updated: Oct. 28, 2018, 3 p.m.)
WASHINGTON D.C. -- Planned Parenthood issued the following statement following the tragic shootings in Pittsburgh, PA and Louisville, KY this past week.
Statement from Dawn Laguens, Executive Vice President, Planned Parenthood Federation of America:
Our hearts go out to those affected by the shootings in Pittsburgh and Louisville this week. Hate, racism, and anti-Semitism have no place in our society. We condemn these acts of terror and any attempt to spread intimidation, hate, or violence against people because of their faith or race. As a health care provider, the patients we serve every day are disproportionately impacted by gun violence. Lawmakers must listen to advocates calling for gun violence prevention and take action to protect our communities. Everyone deserves to live a healthy life free from fear and violence.
Statement from the Planned Parenthood Federation of America Clergy Advocacy Board:
As religious leaders from diverse faiths and communities serving on the Clergy Advocacy Board of Planned Parenthood, our souls go out to all who are impacted by the tragic shootings in Pittsburgh and Louisville. An attack on one faith community is also an attack on all faith communities, as well as against our strong and diverse American democracy. May we all work for a time when each human being can pray without worry, when every place of worship is safe and secure, when no one should fear violence in their home, on the street and whenever people gather in peace.
