Planned Parenthood Condemns Deportation Raids That Rip Families Apart and Limit Immigrants’ Access to Health Care & Safety
For Immediate Release: July 12, 2019
Washington, DC — This weekend, the Trump-Pence administration is preparing to launch a series of raids across major cities across the country starting this Sunday, July 14 through next Thursday, July 18.
Statement from Bridgette Gomez, National Director of Strategic Partnerships, Planned Parenthood Federation of America:
These raids are a cruel, racist, and dangerous extension of the Trump-Pence administration’s already horrifying policies. The Trump administration’s actions have lead to countless families being torn apart and inhumane conditions in migrant detention camps that has cost lives. As a health care provider, we at Planned Parenthood condemn immigration raids that have a dangerous chilling effect on immigrants seeking care that they need and deserve. No one should fear deportation when they seek help, or have to think twice about seeking lifesaving health care. We are proud to serve every person regardless of immigration status and refuse to stand silently by while people are pulled from their communities, homes, and families simply because of where they are from. We are prepared to stand alongside our partners to fight back against this hate and discrimination.
