Planned Parenthood Mourns Anita Datar and Stands with Victims and their Families in the Wake of Recent Terrorist Attacks
For Immediate Release: Dec. 1, 2015
New York, NY—Planned Parenthood released the following statement in the wake of the recent terrorist attacks in various cities around the world:
Statement from Latanya Mapp Frett, Executive Director, Planned Parenthood Global:
“The Planned Parenthood family is deeply saddened by recent attacks in Beirut, Mali and Paris. We mourn the senseless loss of life, and stand with the families and loved ones of the countless victims in these hateful attacks. This includes the family of Anita Datar, a passionate global health consultant and expert on HIV/AIDS who was killed during the attacks on Nov. 20 in Mali. Her family and friends have our deepest sympathy during this difficult time.
“As we hear news of terrorist attacks carried out in so many communities around the world, we also remember the thousands of people who face the threat of violence and terror daily. Now, more than ever, we must stand together and support one another as we continue to fight for the world we want—a world in which each person has the right to lead a safe and healthy life and to freely choose their own path and destiny. As Thanksgiving nears in the United States, Planned Parenthood is thankful for those who put their lives on the line to create a more equal, just world for all.”
