Planned Parenthood on DOJ and Manufacturer Seeking Stay in Mifepristone Case at Supreme Court
For Immediate Release: April 13, 2023
WASHINGTON D.C. — Today, the Department of Justice announced that they plan to seek emergency relief to block the lower court’s rulings in Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine et al v. U.S. Food and Drug Administration et al on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) approval of mifepristone.
Statement from Planned Parenthood Federation of America President Alexis McGill Johnson:
“Mifepristone is safe and effective, and it’s critical to ensuring millions of people have access to medication abortion and miscarriage care. The Supreme Court should move swiftly to block the disastrous rulings threatening to undermine the entire FDA’s approval process and authority. Both the very legitimacy of our drug approval system and access to medication abortion are on the line.”
