Planned Parenthood Responds to President Trump’s Comments on Sexual Assault
For Immediate Release: Sept. 25, 2018
WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Planned Parenthood Federation of America released the below statement condemning President Trump’s attacks on Deborah Ramirez and the credibility of her accusations of sexual violence against Brett Kavanaugh.
Statement from Dawn Laguens, Executive Vice President, Planned Parenthood Federation of America:
We believe survivors. Statements like this from the president of the United States are dangerous and irresponsible. It doesn’t matter what a person drinks or what they wear — sexual assault is never acceptable and anyone who says otherwise is enabling an unsafe and toxic culture. Senators should condemn this attack on survivors. If you’ve experienced any form of sexual violence, know that it was not your fault. Don’t blame yourself for anything you did or didn’t do. And shame on Donald Trump for insinuating otherwise.
If you or someone you know has experienced sexual violence, help is available. Your nearest Planned Parenthood health center can give you medical attention and connect you with services in your area.
