Planned Parenthood Statement on Donald J. Trump Becoming 45th President of the United States
For Immediate Release: Jan. 20, 2017
Washington, DC -- As Donald J. Trump gets sworn in today as the 45th President of the United States, the Planned Parenthood Federation of America issued the following statement:
Quote from Cecile Richards, President of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America:
“As Donald Trump becomes the 45th president of the United States, we urge him to protect the health, lives, dignity, and rights of all people in this country. Planned Parenthood remains steadfast in our mission to ensure all people have access to a full range of reproductive health care, no matter who they are, where they live, where they're from, or what they earn.
“The American people do not support attacks on care, including threats to defund Planned Parenthood or to criminalize abortion. This is the reason millions of women feel compelled to march this Saturday in Washington, DC and across the country: to show their support for the health, rights, and full equality of women. We’ve made incredible strides over the past eight years, and we will do everything and more to ensure that access to care continues, and grows. We won’t go back.”
