“Planned Parenthood applauds President Obama and Congress for repealing the discriminatory ban against gays in the military. This bill is a milestone in civil rights history and will allow gays and lesbians to serve in the military with dignity.
“Most importantly, this repeal will strengthen our armed forces and make our country safer.
“Planned Parenthood supports the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) community by providing unbiased, quality health care and information that helps all patients fully understand their sexual orientation and gender identity. Every person deserves honest information and health care because it is central to self-understanding and how one relates to others. Equal rights supported by the government serve to lessen discrimination and allow individuals the opportunity to fulfill the dreams and aspirations they have in life."
