Planned Parenthood Thanks Senator Reid for Leadership in Advancing Women’s Health
For Immediate Release: March 27, 2015
WASHINGTON, DC – Planned Parenthood Federation of America and Planned Parenthood of Southern Nevada (operated by Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains) today expressed deep gratitude for Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) for his long legacy of leadership in advancing and protecting access to health care for women in Nevada and across the country.
“Nevada women and families are healthier and have better access to the care they need and deserve because of Senator Reid’s leadership. We are grateful for his unwavering commitment to the health and well-being of all Nevadans,” said Vicki Cowart, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains. The statement comes as Senator Reid announced today that he will not seek reelection in 2016.
“Thanks to Senator Reid’s leadership, women across the country have access to no-copay birth control, better access to affordable, high-quality health care, and the many other benefits of the Affordable Care Act,” said Cecile Richards, president, Planned Parenthood Federation of America. “Senator Reid respects that a woman’s personal health care decisions should be between her and her doctor. We need more leaders like Senator Reid in Washington, who understand that politicians have no business imposing their own personal beliefs on women and their access to the full range of reproductive health care.”
