Planned Parenthood to Sexual Assault Survivors: “We hear you and we believe you”
For Immediate Release: Oct. 11, 2017
Statement from Dawn Laguens, Executive Vice President of Planned Parenthood Federation of America
At Planned Parenthood, we take allegations of sexual assault very seriously and we believe sexual assault survivors deserve to be heard and should be treated with dignity and respect; we know that coming forward is not easy and commend their bravery. Planned Parenthood stands with sexual assault survivors.
“We are proud to support sexual assault survivors by offering vital sexual and reproductive health care services, education, and resources in a safe and nonjudgmental environment they may need after experiencing an assault; by working toward preventing sexual assault in the first place through our consent and healthy relationships education; and by advocating for better policies to prevent and respond to sexual assault.
