Statement from Planned Parenthood Federation of America on Ohio Supreme Court Ruling to Protect Patient Privacy
For Immediate Release: Jan. 30, 2014
Washington, DC — "Today, the Ohio Supreme Court ruled in favor of Planned Parenthood of Southwest Ohio (PPSWO) and the privacy of patients by affirming a lower court decision to protect confidential patient medical records.
“On behalf of the more than three million clients we serve annually, we applaud the court's ruling to protect the privacy of patients who trust that their medical records are confidential and not available to lawyers trying cases that have nothing to do with them.
“For more than 90 years Planned Parenthood has been a provider of high-quality health care to communities across the country, steadfastly protecting patients' confidentiality and right to privacy.
“The health and safety of our patients is our top priority. We will continue to provide high-quality health care to men, women and teens, while ensuring their right to privacy.”
