I had sex with a condom, but I’m not on any other birth control. Is that still safe?
Condoms are the only form of birth control that also prevent sexually transmitted infections. It’s very important to use a condom whenever you’re at risk for getting an infection.
Using another form of birth control along with condoms is a great way to prevent pregnancy and infections. For example, if a woman takes birth control pills correctly — at the same time each day and always starts her pack on time — AND uses a condom every time she has vaginal sex, there is very little chance that she’ll get pregnant — or a sexually transmitted infection.
