Is there any specific condom that is best for use with homosexual males? I see a lot that are “for her pleasure” or “ribbed”, but I want to know what would work best for intercourse between two men.
The best way to make a condom choice is to try several varieties and see what works for you.
Unprotected anal intercourse, like unprotected vaginal intercourse, is considered a high-risk activity. Guys who have unprotected anal intercourse are at high risk for many sexually transmitted infections, including HIV, which can cause AIDS. Proper use of latex condoms or internal condoms (Yes, many guys prefer internal condoms when having anal sex with other guys.) can reduce the risk of contracting dangerous infections.
Use only water-based lubricants, such as K-Y jelly or AstroGlide, or silicone-based lubricants with latex condoms. Oil-based lubricants like petroleum jelly, cold cream, or mineral and vegetable oils damage latex. (One of the advantages of using internal condoms, which are made of polyurethane, is that any kind of lubricant can be used.) Usually, the anus does not produce a sufficient amount of lubricant for comfortable intercourse, therefore it is very important to use lube during anal sex. Lubricant also reduces the risk of tearing anal tissue and having a condom break.
But, since lubricants don’t taste very good (unless they’re flavored), unlubricated (“dry”) condoms are often preferred for oral sex. Unprotected oral sex is not as high-risk for infection as unprotected vaginal or anal sex. But infections can be spread during oral sex play. Using condoms for oral sex on guys further reduces the risk of infection.
