What To Expect During Your Appointment
Plan to be at the health center for 2-3 hour(s) for your entire visit.
Post-Appointment Information
We'll follow up with you, if you’d like, within 1-2 week(s) to make sure your abortion is complete and that you are well.
In the unlikely event that you are still pregnant, you may need another dose of medicine or to have an in-clinic abortion to end the pregnancy.
We’ll also give you after-care instructions and a phone number you can call with any questions or concerns.

Preparing For Your Appointment
If you take any medicines, please continue to take them normally before your appointment or bring them with you on the day of your appointment.
If you have asthma, bring an inhaler if you have one.
If you plan to have sedation, please do not eat for 6 hours or drink clear liquids for 6 hours before your appointment.
If you desire medication to help make your in-clinic abortion more comfortable, you must have a responsible companion with you to help you get home safely.
There may be additional charges for lab and blood work.
Payment is expected at time of service unless other arrangements have been made.
What To Expect During Your Appointment
Plan to be at the health center for 4-6 hour(s) for your entire visit for an in-clinic abortion.

Abortion pill (medical abortion) telehealth screening and video appointments for patients in Virginia is now available. This service is only available for patients who are confident their last menstrual period will be no more than 8 weeks by the time of the appointment. These appointments can only be made over the phone to clear a preliminary screening. At the time of the visit, there will be an additional screening and will meet with the provider over video. Once the consult is complete Planned Parenthood will UPS Next day air the Medication Abortion package. The package includes the 2 abortion medications, pain medication, nausea medication, a high sensitivity pregnancy test for follow-up as well as a heating pad.
At times there may be protesters outside of the health center. We suggest you avoid interaction with them.
Please do not bring children to the health center.

VA Requirements
By Virginia State Law, women under 18 years of age are required to have the consent of at least one parent or guardian in order to receive abortion services. If the patient does not feel that it is feasible to receive parental consent for the procedure, she may ask for a judicial bypass at a local court, which will be recognized at our health center as a bypass for parental consent.
