Planned Parenthood Arizona Announces Grant from Phoenix Pride
For Immediate Release: July 17, 2019
Planned Parenthood has received a $10,000 Community Grant from Phoenix Pride to provide Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) services to help patients prevent contracting HIV disease. The health care service will be available at Planned Parenthood’s five health centers across metro Phoenix through December 31, 2019.
Planned Parenthood Arizona will partner with Aunt Rita’s Foundation in Phoenix to identify patients who seek this care but may lack the financial resources to access it.
Valley residents who are interested in receiving PrEP services from PPAZ can contact Aunt Rita’s Foundation at (602) 882-8675 or their Valley area Planned Parenthood Arizona health center. Health center phone numbers and locations can be accessed through a zip code search on the home page of the PPAZ website www.ppaz.org.
“Planned Parenthood is excited to partner with Phoenix Pride to providing this life saving and life-affirming service to patients across the Valley” said Bryan Howard, Planned Parenthood Arizona President & CEO. “Including PrEP among our health care services is part of our commitment to protect every person’s right to sexual health, intimacy and sexual expression. The goal of every Planned Parenthood health professional is that our health centers and the care we provide be welcoming, safe and respectful.”
Mike Fornelli, Executive Director of Phoenix Pride, stated, “Phoenix Pride is very excited to present Planned Parenthood Arizona a Community Grant to help fund and support the provision of PrEP services in their health centers across the Greater Phoenix Area. We are enormously proud of our ability to give back to the Phoenix LGBTQ community and our allies and to utilize the funds generated from the Phoenix Pride events to support significant impactful community programs. With over 250,000 self-identified LGBTQ people living in Arizona, our local direct-service nonprofits provide vital services and resources specific to LGBTQ needs. Phoenix Pride Community Grants Program provides value to Arizona’s vibrant LGBTQ nonprofit sector by helping these organizations achieve their mission.”
Planned Parenthood Arizona is grateful to be able to offer PrEP services at no cost to people in Phoenix through this Community Grant in partnership with Phoenix Pride. This grant and service are part of our commitment to provide a full range of sexual and reproductive health care to the people of Arizona. No matter what.
