Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri Consolidates Services in the Kansas City Metro
For Immediate Release: May 22, 2015
OVERLAND PARK, KS — In order to strengthen its footprint and better serve patients in the greater Kansas City metropolitan area, Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri will be consolidating its women’s health and family planning services in the South Kansas City region. PPKM will expand access to high quality, affordable reproductive health care services offered at the Comprehensive Health Center in Overland Park, while closing its health center in Grandview on May 31st, 2015.
PPKM’s lead Nurse Practitioner in Grandview will join the team of highly trained health care professionals in Overland Park in order to provide continuity of care to the women, men and teens who depend on Planned Parenthood every day for non-judgmental, confidential health care. PPKM is pleased patients in Kansas City will have continued access to the same trusted Planned Parenthood health care provider in Overland Park.
For 80 years, PPKM has offered a wide range of preventive health services in centers across Kansas and Missouri. These include life-saving cervical and breast cancer screenings; birth control; prevention and treatment of STDs, including HPV detection and vaccination; and sexual health education, information, and counseling.
PPKM President and CEO Laura McQuade said, “The consolidation of the two centers will enable Comprehensive Health Center in Overland Park to expand its already full schedule of visits to serve the broadened patient base resulting from the Grandview closure, as well as newly-insured communities under the Affordable Care Act. Patients receiving health care in Overland Park and our other four health centers in the Kansas City metro area will also be able to participate in newly revitalized education services, which include health center-based educators. We’re pleased to be able to better serve patients by offering this broader range of care moving forward.”
