-
Currently have a Mirena IUD that was inserted more than 4.5 years ago

If you did not originally get your device from Planned Parenthood, you may still be eligible to participate in this study. You also don’t need to be a current Planned Parenthood patient to participate.

Can I participate if I have another type of IUD?
At this time, we are only looking for those who have the Mirena IUD and have had it for at least 4.5 years. We do have other IUD studies going on. If you’re interested in learning more, please contact the Clinical Research team by calling 314-531-7526 ext. 362 or emailing them at [email protected].
How do I participate?
We are no longer enrolling participants in the EPIC study. However, you may contact the Research Team at 314-531-7526 ext. 362 or email them at [email protected] for information about other studies. A member of our team will ask you a few basic questions to make sure you qualify, and can answer any other questions you may have.
Enrollment involves a short, 30-minute visit to do the initial paperwork, and then a brief check-in phone call every 6 months. Participants will be asked to keep their device past the official expiration date, which could be an additional 12 to 36 months. Those who enroll will receive at least $40 in Target gift cards, with opportunities to receive more over the course of the study during follow-up phone surveys.
Even if your LARC is expired or about to expire, you don’t have to participate in the study to receive services at Planned Parenthood. You can still make an appointment at Planned Parenthood for any service you may need, including removing your device.
