friendsbychoice – Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region’s young professionals group – will be taking their monthly soiree to Smoking Joe’s (1901 Washington Ave.) on Saturday, May 2 at 8 p.m. With music by HoneyVox Dance Band, a full menu and cash bar, this month’s party is sure to be smokin’!
A $5 cover at the door will benefit Planned Parenthood, along with 10% of all bar sales. Volunteers will also be in attendance to give away Proper Attire® condoms - the organization’s newest brand of protection that is “Required for Entry.”
One and all are invited to “Party with Planned Parenthood.” friendsbychoice hosts parties once a month at various venues to prove the theory that sex, politics and cocktails always go together, and seeks to advance Planned Parenthood’s mission and services throughout the St. Louis community.
“It’s great to be part of a young, vibrant group of people who understand the continued awareness of why choice is so important in our lives: from choice in personal decision making to choice in what latest bag I’ll bring on May 2!” says Andrea Mackris, committee chair of friendsbychoice.
HoneyVox Dance Band plays everything foot stomping originals that touch on sounds of old school, hip-hop, R&B, pop, funk, rock, jazz, Motown and a little taste of country. The six members of HoneyVox have individually graced the stage with well known local and national acts such as Chuck Berry, Oliver Sain, Ike Turner, Dennis Edwards, The Time and Fontella Bass. Over the past 75 years, Planned Parenthood in St. Louis has grown to include six health centers that provide information and services on reproductive health care to 34,000 women, men and teens annually.
