Ohio Judge Temporarily Blocks 24-Hour Waiting Period Law Citing the Reproductive Freedom Amendment

The Franklin County Court of Common Pleas issued a temporary injunction stopping several Ohio laws that require abortion patients to wait at least 24 hours after receiving certain state-mandated information before getting an abortion. This is the first ruling citing the Ohio Reproductive Freedom Amendment, which was added to the state constitution on December 7, 2023.

Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio (PPGOH) announced this week that Dr. Bhavik Kumar has been appointed Chief Medical Officer. He will oversee the medical providers and health care centers that serve more than 60,000 patients. Dr. Adarsh Krishen, PPGOH’s Chief Medical Officer since 2017, announced his planned retirement this week.
