Expanded services and updated health centers continue 80 year commitment in Fort Worth
Fort Worth, TX — Today, Planned Parenthood donors and advocates gathered at the Southeast Fort Worth Planned Parenthood health center where patients have received essential healthcare services, including birth control, cancer screenings, sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment, and annual exams for more than 30 years.
The reception marked the completion of renovations to Planned Parenthood’s Southeast Fort Worth health center. Planned Parenthood’s four Tarrant County health centers (Arlington, Bedford, Southeast Fort Worth and Southwest Fort Worth health centers) have been updated as part of a 5-year initiative to update or renovate all Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas health centers to serve the next generation of patients.
In addition to health center renovations, Planned Parenthood is expanding services in Tarrant County. Earlier this year, Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas health centers began offering PrEP and PEP medications to help prevent HIV transmission for at-risk patients. The Arlington health center expanded existing healthcare for transgender patients to include gender-affirming hormone therapy (GAHT). This spring, Planned Parenthood increased teen pregnancy prevention outreach in Tarrant County to reach more youth and to provide health education programs for mothers with opioid dependency.
“Planned Parenthood has been an integral part of the healthcare safety net in Tarrant County for more than 80 years,” said President and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas, Ken Lambrecht. Lambrecht continued, “We are committed to expanding access to healthcare and education in Fort Worth to meet the needs of the community. Today, we are proud to announce Southeast Fort Worth Health Center is renovated and open to serve the next generation of patients. Due to generous community support, Texans can count on Planned Parenthood for expert, trusted healthcare including IUDs, implants, and other contraceptives, testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections, HIV tests, breast and cervical cancer screenings, annual exams, and other preventive healthcare.”
