Planned Parenthood Los Angeles Peer Advocates Go to D.C.!
For Immediate Release: May 17, 2014
Last week, high school students from Planned Parenthood L.A.'s Peer Advocate program braved the 90-degree heat and headed to Washington, D.C. to meet with their Congressional representatives and advocate for reproductive health care. It was a rare and important opportunity for these teens to share their first-hand knowledge of the importance of Planned Parenthood and family planning services in their community.
As Peer Advocates, these Los Angeles students participate in ongoing leadership training throughout the year. During their trip to D.C., the teens added to their skill-sets by attending educational workshops and rallies. They headed home to L.A. having made an important impact on our Nation's decision-makers, and with new tools to continue to be effective champions for reproductive health.
Thank you, Peer Advocates, for representing Planned Parenthood so well!
