Planned Parenthood Moves to New Health Center in Brooklyn Park
For Immediate Release: May 18, 2020
Planned Parenthood now offering in-person services at the new location
St. Paul, MN— Planned Parenthood opened a brand-new health center in Brooklyn Park, moving from a previous location to a new space just a few blocks away on Brooklyn Boulevard. The new location has more space to meet patient demand in the area. In 2019, Planned Parenthood’s Brooklyn Park health center saw more than 3,700 patients for a total of 6,800 patient visits. The new Brooklyn Park location will allow space to see 50-80% more patients.
“Today, we are thrilled to be welcoming our first patients to this beautiful new full-service Brooklyn Park health center,” said Sarah Stoesz, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood North Central States. “The need for expert sexual and reproductive health care doesn’t stop during a pandemic and we are proud to offer patients an array of telehealth choices when in-person care isn’t an option. Planned Parenthood has provided care for more than 100 years and we will continue to be here for our patients, no matter what.”
The demand for sexual and reproductive health care has not waned during COVID-19 and in the first weeks of the pandemic, Planned Parenthood shifted our model of care to make most services available through telehealth. While telehealth will continue to be central to Planned Parenthood’s care model during the pandemic, our new Brooklyn Park location offers in-person services that cannot be provided through telehealth, including IUD insertion, cancer screenings, and breast exams.
Since the start of the pandemic, we’ve experienced a 250% increase in use of telehealth services across the five-state region that includes Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota and North Dakota. Planned Parenthood’s telehealth services include:
- Birth control
- IUD and birth control implant consultation
- UTI screening and treatment
- Sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing, consultation and treatment
- PrEP and PEP (for HIV prevention) consultation
- Transgender Hormone Therapy
- Anxiety and depression screening and treatment
Planned Parenthood will also be opening a brand-new health center in the Uptown neighborhood of Minneapolis in early fall of 2020.
