The Calexico Wellness Center is a non-profit community clinic that recognizes the concerns of Calexico patients. They believe justice is attained through community empowerment, organizing, and advocacy to protect public health. Black Womxn Deserve is a mutual aid fund launched by March for Black Womxn San Diego that provides direct financial assistance to Black Womxn, femmes, trans and non-binary folx in need, primarily in the San Diego area. This fund was created with the knowledge that Black Womxn, femmes, trans and non-binary folx are the populations that are the most impacted by systemic racism and the first to be left behind during the COVID-19 crisis. Brothers of the Desert (@brothersofthedesert) is a non-profit organization led by Black gay men living in the Coachella Valley focused on empowering and supporting the community through a variety of efforts. These efforts include producing an annual wellness summit, a quarterly speaker series, and scholarships for students from Black and LGBTQ+ communities and participation in cultural and community building events. Their work is focused on changing the dynamics that produce isolation, disconnection, and inequities among Black gay men and allies. To learn more and to donate visit brothersofthedesert.org.
