Maybe you’ve been a patient at Planned Parenthood, or maybe you know someone who has—which is likely, considering 1 in 5 women in America will visit a Planned Parenthood health center at some time in her life.
And maybe you heard a thing or twenty about attacks on Planned Parenthood and access to safe and legal abortion services.
That’s not cool, you might think. What can I do to help? You’ve come to the right place! Here are three ways you can chip in and support your local Planned Parenthood affiliate:
- Give money. Yeah, it’s cliché, but giving money really, really helps. Non-profit organizations like Planned Parenthood are always strapped for cash, and any amount helps.
If you’re not prepared to make a gift that feels significant to you, you can become a monthly donor and give in small increments: Five or ten dollars a month is manageable for your budget and provides important support for Planned Parenthood so that they can provide lifesaving care and honest information to anyone who needs it. Everyone wins!
Another option is to put Planned Parenthood on your holiday wish list. Tell your friends, family, colleagues, and partner that you’d rather have them give to Planned Parenthood in your honor than give you yet another pair of socks.
- Give your time. Volunteering at Planned Parenthood is an excellent opportunity to give your time and talents to support a mission you care about. There are many ways to get involved in our administrative departments, health centers, and out in the community. From handing out condoms and information, to advocating for continued funding, Planned Parenthood is always looking for friendly supporters to help out. Spending time with like-minded friends while supporting a good cause? Sign me up!
- Share your story. There’s no better time to share why you stand with Planned Parenthood. People need to hear how important Planned Parenthood’s services are to the women, men, teens, and families who depend on them. Plus, it might give hope to others who are going through a similar situation.
