A lot of people are struggling to pay for basics like health care right now. Planned Parenthood has low- to no-cost reproductive health care services for anyone who needs them.
For instance: Many people pay nothing out-of-pocket for birth control at Planned Parenthood, thanks to the state-funded Family PACT program.
If you are uninsured or prefer to pay out-of-pocket but don’t qualify for Family PACT, we welcome cash and credit cards, and can set up a payment plan.
If you do have insurance: You can use most plans at Planned Parenthood. See the Private Insurance & Covered California section below for help with figuring out your costs.
Not a U.S. citizen or legal resident? You can still receive family planning care from Planned Parenthood.

Family PACT (no-cost family planning services)
If you are uninsured, you may be able to receive no-cost reproductive health services under Family PACT, if you:
- Are a California resident
- Have no other health coverage for the family planning services you need
- Meet specific income requirements
Call us at 1.888.743.7526 and our staff will ask a few simple screening questions. If you are eligible, we can enroll you at the time of your appointment and you will receive services immediately.
You can find more information about eligibility here.
Private Insurance & Covered California
If you do have insurance, you are probably covered for most types of visits at Planned Parenthood. We recommend checking with your insurance plan before your visit to make sure the service you need is covered and to learn what visit costs (such as a co-pay or deductible) you might be responsible for.
Here’s how:
- Call the member service information number on the back of your insurance card.
- Tell your insurance what service you are seeking and that you will be visiting Planned Parenthood.
- Confirm your benefits and coverage and ask what your out-of-pocket costs will be. (We know health insurance can be confusing. Here’s a guide to what you need to know about co-pays, deductibles, formularies, and networks.)
- If the service you're seeking is not covered, you can still visit Planned Parenthood.
- If you find that services at Planned Parenthood are not covered, ask your insurance plan to add us as a participating health care provider so you can take full advantage of our convenient, high-quality, compassionate care.
