Tuesday, March 8 is International Women’s Day. On this day each year, we celebrate women and the incredible achievements and contributions they have made to our society. Across all areas of our lives — political, economic, social, academic, cultural, and more — women keep our global community strong and moving forward.
We celebrate every woman who has told their stories, organized in their communities, demanded change from their elected officials, fought for social justice, and advocated for a better world for all.
We thank women in health care, essential workers, and caregivers on the front lines of the pandemic, working every day to keep our communities safe and supported. And we honor the women in our lives who embody the spirit of leadership, love, and strength.
We know that gender equity isn’t possible until everyone has true reproductive freedom, which means we must continue to work and fight for full access to sexual and reproductive health and rights for all.
We must also use this day to recognize the work ahead to finally ensure that everyone’s health and rights are valued and protected equally, regardless of their gender identity or expression. To truly honor women around the world, we cannot just thank them — we must work in solidarity with them in the fight for their rights.
