Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest opened a beautiful new health center in Murrieta on Monday, August 28, to expand access to high quality sexual and reproductive health care in a region with great unmet need.
This is the third new health center we have opened in western Riverside County in the last five years making five health centers total in this region including Murrieta, Hemet, Corona, Moreno Valley, and Riverside Flaster Family Center.
“We know there just aren’t enough health care providers in the Inland Empire to meet the needs of this quickly expanding population,” said Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest President and CEO Darrah DiGiorgio Johnson. “The Inland Empire continues to grow and we are committed to growing along with it to make sure that people in this region can get birth control, STI testing and treatment, life-saving cancer screenings, abortion, and other sexual and reproductive exams and health services.”
The Murrieta health center is one of the largest of our 20 health centers with 13 patient care rooms in a 6,100-square-foot facility. The center is located right off Interstate 215 in a newly constructed medical building.
Patients in this region previously had to travel up to 20 miles to get to a Planned Parenthood health center.
The health center features a modern, spacious lobby and exam rooms alongside a staff collaboration space, breakroom, lactation room, and “resiliency” room where staff can find some calm away from the activity in the center.
“This health center was built with patients and staff in mind,” said Vice President of Business Development Lori Keim. “From the time you enter the center, you are welcomed with a warm, peaceful environment, which has been shown to improve health outcomes and help staff provide the best experience for patients. We are so pleased to be able to provide high quality care to patients in this area now and for many years to come.”
