The Supreme Court struck down Texas state law last month that limited women’s access to abortion. It was a watershed ruling for women’s rights!
Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest General Counsel Tracy Skaddan gave San Diegans some much-needed context on this complex ruling in a San Diego Union-Tribune op-ed published earlier this month. She reviewed what the ruling means to the women of Texas, and to all of us across the country. Skaddan also detailed California’s progressive abortion laws that make this valid medical procedure more accessible for women in our state compared to other states with restrictive laws. She began serving on the Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest Board of Directors in 2006 and was elected chair of the board in 2009. Tracy also served on the board and as an officer of Planned Parenthood’s Action Fund, the political advocacy arm of Planned Parenthood, as well as serving as its general counsel.
