The landmark donation will help fund service expansion and increase patient access to reproductive and sexual health care. This investment comes at an especially crucial time, as access to abortion and sexual and reproductive health care continues to be increasingly restricted across the country.
The expansion will build on Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest’s already robust network of health centers, which includes the recently dedicated Planned Parenthood Joan and Irwin Jacobs Center in Kearny Mesa. This facility — which provides contraception, STI testing and treatment, cancer screening and treatment, gender-affirming hormone treatment, pregnancy tests, and abortion care — is our affiliate’s largest health center in San Diego County, and has the capacity to serve over 17,000 patient visits per year.
The location also houses the state-of-the-art Grant Rose Wilson Training Center, Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest’s first facility dedicated to training reproductive health care providers.
Thank you so much to the Jacobs family for their generosity and support; and thank you to all of our other donors who contributed to this facility.
