The mission of the 2020 Census is to ensure everyone is counted. Through 9 questions, the Census offers a once-in-ten-year opportunity to ensure an accurate count that will have a major impact on health care funding and political representation. It is also a chance to increase the visibility of the communities we serve, and to help close the gap in undercounted and underserved areas that often face the most barriers to accessing health care and other important services.
To meet hard-to-count populations where they are, the Planned Parenthood team has deployed effective digital outreach practices such as phone calls to rural areas in Imperial County, and text messages to millennials across San Diego County. These tactics provide a promising opportunity for everyone to understand the importance of completing their 2020 Census. Riverside, Imperial, and San Diego Counties have all surpassed the 50% self-reporting milestone, and are well on the way to surpassing their 2010 Census self-response rates.
October 5 is the deadline for everyone to complete their Census. Make sure you reach out and let your friends and family know that they can complete their Census form at my2020census.gov. It’s easy and only takes about 10 minutes to complete.
You count. Be counted.
