Imperial Valley Homan Center

El Centro, CA - On, September 9, 2024 Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest (PPPSW) reopened the Imperial Valley Homan Health Center – one year after a major fire destroyed Planned Parenthood’s only health center in the region. The Imperial Valley Homan Health Center was reopened thanks to our generous supporters and dedicated staff.

During the rebuild, a temporary facility was utilized in the parking lot of the property. While Imperial Valley patients were able to access the sexual and reproductive health care they needed in the temporary property – including birth control, STI testing and treatment, annual exams, abortions, and more – the rebuilt center will serve as a permanent beacon of access to quality and compassionate sexual and reproductive health in a medically underserved area.

Host to a number of important updates and changes to maximize efficiency and safety – the rebuilt Imperial Valley Homan Health Center will be able to serve people more effectively through improved safety features, upgraded technology, and improved insulation to keep the center cool.

At Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest, we are committed to providing compassionate, high-quality care to all patients, regardless of income or insurance status – and are proud to continue serving the deserving residents of Imperial County, and those who have traveled from other states to access the vital care they need and deserve.

Statement from Darrah DiGiorgio Johnson, President & CEO of Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest:

“We are thrilled to announce the grand reopening of our Imperial Valley Homan Health Center after a year of reconstruction, following the devastating fire that destroyed our previous facility. This milestone marks a significant victory for reproductive health care access in our community.”

“Our newly rebuilt health center is equipped with important updates that will reinforce patient and staff safety, while offering a welcoming, patient-centered environment. We are committed to providing comprehensive reproductive health care services and education, including birth control, abortion, STI testing and treatment, cancer screenings, and more to residents of Imperial County and surrounding communities.”

“We extend our sincerest gratitude to our community, staff, donors, and community partners for their unwavering support throughout this challenging year. We could not be more thrilled to continue serving the community of El Centro and providing essential health care services for years to come.”
