Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains awarded grant by Aspen Community Foundation
For Immediate Release: Jan. 30, 2014
Grant will assist clients in need
DENVER – “I am delighted and honored to announce that Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains has been awarded a grant of $12,000 by Aspen Community Foundation,” Vicki Cowart, President and CEO of PPRM, announced today. According to Cowart the grant will be used to assist patients at Planned Parenthood’s Glenwood Springs health center who are in need of essential health care but do not have the ability to pay for their services.
The grant from Aspen Community Foundation will give us additional resources for our Clients in Need Fund. In these tough economic times, women and men more than ever before need access to essential health care services. This fund removes any financial barriers that may prevent clients from seeking or receiving services by subsidizing part or all of the cost of the visit or treatment. Through the Clients in Need Fund, we are able to subsidize the cost of preventive reproductive health care for our lowest income clients who are uninsured, underinsured, or otherwise in need. Everyday Planned Parenthood works to make the communities we serve healthier by providing lifesaving cancer screenings, PAP tests, STD testing and treatment, contraceptives and other essential health care services.
Over the past 19 years, Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains has been granted $110,000 from Aspen Community Foundation’s unrestricted and field of interest funds and $121,750 from Donor Advised Funds. We recognize the importance of community support through unrestricted grant making, field of interested funds, and donor advised funds.
Aspen Community Foundation has been working since 1980 to improve the quality of life in our communities. Based in Aspen, the Community Foundation serves the extended Roaring Fork and Colorado river valleys and directs a collection of funds created by individuals, families, nonprofits, businesses, and the Community Foundation itself for charitable purposes. Each year, the Community Foundation strives to positively impact the quality of life in our communities by awarding millions of dollars in grants to nonprofit from these funds. The Community foundation also serves as a civic leader, convener, and sponsor of special initiatives designed to address community issues.
