Connecticut Sun WNBA game on August 23, 2017 generates awareness for local nonprofit, Planned Parenthood.
(New Haven, Conn.) – The Connecticut Sun WNBA team is highlighting Planned Parenthood of Southern New England (PPSNE) as the Community Spotlight organization at its August 23 game. Special discounted tickets are available for the basketball game, with a portion of ticket sales benefitting PPSNE.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to be featured in the Community Spotlight by Connecticut Sun,” said Amanda Skinner, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Southern New England. “This is going to be a great game and wonderful night that will benefit the 60,000 patients Planned Parenthood sees every year in Connecticut. We invite all of our supporters, donors and advocates to cheer loudly for the Sun and send a strong message in support of access to reproductive health care and rights.”
PPSNE will have an information table inside the arena on the concourse, and will be handing out fun Planned Parenthood items such as temporary tattoos, buttons and lip balm, beginning at 5:30 p.m. As part of a special initiative, the Sun will also provide a matching gift of up to $1,000 for the top four groups that sell the most tickets during Community Spotlight events in August.
“The Community Spotlight program has become an outstanding way for local nonprofits in our community to generate awareness at Sun games. It provides avenues to fundraise and recognize key contributors,” said Amber Cox, Connecticut Sun Vice President. “We are thrilled to have Planned Parenthood of Southern New England join us as our featured organization on August 23.”
The Connecticut Sun tipoff against the Dallas Wings is at 7 p.m. on August 23, 2017, at the Mohegan Sun Arena, 1 Mohegan Sun Blvd, Uncasville, CT 06382. To purchase tickets, which start at $20, visit bit.ly/CTSunPPSNE and use special offer code CTSUNPP.
