PLANNED PARENTHOOD OF SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND EDUCATES UNINSURED RESIDENTS ABOUT AFFORDABLE CARE ACT; UPCOMING ENROLLMENT PERIOD STARTING NOVEMBER 15
For Immediate Release: Nov. 12, 2014
PPSNE enrollment specialists help residents understand their options and how to enroll in new health care coverage.
(New Haven. Conn.) – This Saturday, November 15, 2014, marks the start of the new enrollment period for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act. Planned Parenthood of Southern New England (PPSNE) is helping women, men and young people in Connecticut take charge of their health with the information and tools to get covered during the three month enrollment period. Enrollment starts this Saturday, November 15, 2014 and ends February 15, 2015.
More than 48 million women have already benefited from access to fully covered women’s health services thanks to the Affordable Care Act’s (ACA) preventive health benefits. One in seven ACA Marketplace enrollees is a woman between the ages of 18 and 34. Millions of women now have access to birth control, routine well-woman exams, breast and cervical cancer screenings and mammograms for women over 40 without copays or other out-of-pocket expenses.
PPSNE is kicking off open enrollment with a special Education & Enrollment Fair this Saturday, November 15, 2014 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., at 345 Whitney Avenue, New Haven, CT.
“As the leading women’s health care provider and advocate in southern New England, we are proud to help women – and their families – without insurance figure out what to consider in choosing a health insurance plan, how to get help paying for it and how to sign up,” said Judy Tabar President and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Southern New England. “Thanks to Obamacare, millions more women can get the care they need, including birth control, cancer screenings and other preventive services without a copay.”
Planned Parenthood of Southern New England has online resources that provides an overview of what the ACA law means for residents. It also features the dates and locations of upcoming enrollment events where residents can sign up for health insurance.
“For more than 90 years, Planned Parenthood of Southern New England has been providing expert women’s health care and that’s not changing,” Tabar said. “Whether you have health insurance or not, you can still come to Planned Parenthood for birth control, cancer screenings and the other care you need, when you need it.”
Planned Parenthood health centers provide a broad range of services, more than 90 percent of which are lifesaving cancer screenings, birth control, prevention and treatment of STDs, sexual health education, information and health counseling.
One in five women has turned to Planned Parenthood at some time in her life for professional, non-judgmental, and confidential care. No one else does more than Planned Parenthood to reduce unintended pregnancies and keep women healthy.
