REV Youth Leadership Program
REV(olution) is a leadership program for youth who are passionate about sexual and reproductive healthcare, advocacy, and peer education.
REV is a year-long leadership program for youth ages 14-18. Youth will collaborate with PPSO staff to educate peers, train healthcare professionals, participate in outreach events, and advocate for reproductive justice.
REV is a great way to learn more about sexual and reproductive health and build community, all while earning volunteer hours.
“This experience helped me understand sexual health and sexuality to a greater extent in an open and caring environment with like-minded peers. I valued this experience because it helped me become more open and comfortable with sexuality and health and with healthcare in general.”
- REV alum, 2017
“REV allows youth to advocate for what they believe in, improve their public speaking skills, and spend time with like-minded individuals. These experiences have been incredibly beneficial for me.” - REV alum, 2018

REV is open to youth ages 14-18 in the Eugene/Springfield and Rogue Valley areas, where the two cohorts are located. Members should be committed to learning about reproductive justice and sexual health issues and excited to volunteer with Planned Parenthood. Members are enthusiastic, dependable, ready to grow, and able to work well with others.
REV welcomes youth of all genders, sexual orientations, races, religions, physical & mental abilities, and socioeconomic statuses. Members come to the group with different beliefs and viewpoints. No one is expected to have any previous knowledge or education about sexual health and prevention issues. We strive to create a community that is strong and varied in its membership and work actively to build a group that is anti-racist, anti-sexist, anti-homophobic, and anti-transphobic.
REV is a commitment! REV meets twice a month throughout the school year. Each meeting is 1.5 hours, and we alternate between in-person and virtual sessions. There are additional opportunities for projects and activities outside of regular group meetings.

REV Activities
Peer Education
Research shows that teens get most of their information from other teens and prefer talking to someone their own age about personal concerns.
PPSO's REV youth receive extensive training on health, sexuality, presentation techniques, and answering difficult questions - strengthening their leadership skills. As peer educators, REV youth are a resource for other youth and community members. Youth collaborate with PPSO staff to ensure sexual health curriculum centers youth voices and are relevant to their experiences.
Community Advocacy
REV students participate in and design their own special projects and events. These include a range of possibilities that connect REV youth to the greater community, and encompass PPSO's goal of youth being at the forefront of the mission. REV youth have the opportunity to act as speakers, organizers, tablers, and more!
Adolescent Health Care Communication Project (AHCCP)
The Adolescent Health Care Communication Project is a youth-led training for current and future health care providers. REV youth lead presentations that address the concerns and biases young people face in the medical setting. Youth trainers offer accurate, authentic advice and insight about their concerns and preferences related to sexual and reproductive health care. Trainees walk away from the program with a heightened ability to interact and communicate with young people about their sexual health issues.
