For Immediate Release: Feb. 24, 2020 (Updated: Feb. 24, 2020, 2:48 p.m.)
Today, Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin (PPWI) is proud to announce the expansion of health care services now available at the Planned Parenthood health centers located in Blair, La Crosse and Sparta.
“We are excited to announce the expansion of services that are now available at the PPWI health centers in western Wisconsin. These additional services are available at all PPWI health centers throughout Wisconsin and allow our patients to continue to receive compassionate care from trusted providers that they feel comfortable with. PPWI providers are experts in the care that they provide, and our patients know that they will receive high quality, nonjudgmental, and confidential reproductive care in our health centers,” said Tanya Atkinson, President and CEO of PPWI.
With these additional services, PPWI can ensure patients get the care they need in their communities. The expanded services include:
- Endometrial biopsy – obtaining a sample of the uterine lining to rule out cancer when certain patterns of abnormal bleeding or other risk factors are present.
- Polyp removal – removing growths from the cervix and sending to pathology to rule out cancers.
- HPV vaccine – a series of vaccinations for all genders to protect against nine different types of HPV to prevent cervical cancer and genital warts.
- Early pregnancy complications – evaluation of abnormal bleeding and pain in pregnancy; diagnosing and treating miscarriage; diagnosing dangerous complications like ectopic pregnancy and ensuring rapid treatment.
“PPWI is always contemplating ways to expand our reach and meet the needs of our patients in communities across Wisconsin,” said Atkinson. “We are dedicated to making sure our patients are receiving the best possible care. We look forward to welcoming all individuals regardless of their insurance status, gender and sexual identity who want to take a stand for their health at Planned Parenthood.”
