The City of Milwaukee is hosting the Republican National Convention from July 15-18th, 2024. Events related to the RNC may occur both before and after these dates. The city is expecting about 50,000+ delegates, media, law enforcement, staff and visitors.
Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin health centers are not in the impact zone but want to make sure patients visiting our health centers are kept informed.
Safety & Security
PPWI has added security measures to ensure the safety of patients and staff at the health centers during the convention.
Road Closures
Road closures near the convention site (Fiserv Forum & Henry Maier Festival Grounds - Summerfest) are expected to begin July 11th and will have an impact on all Milwaukee traffic.
Please plan for delays and factor in extra time for travel.
Road closures can be found here: https://city.milwaukee.gov
Bus Schedules & Detours
Milwaukee County Transit System buses will operate during their normal hours of service. However, many routes will be impacted, including both downtown and connecting routes. Bus stop locations will also change. Temporary bus stop signs will be posted outside of the security perimeter, especially at major intersections, to direct riders to their nearest bus stop. Riders are asked to plan for delays and factor in extra time for travel. MCTS will provide a comprehensive list of known service changes closer to the start of the convention on www.RideMCTS.com.
Milwaukee County Transit released a list of 14 bus routes that will be detoured due to the RNC. These routes include CONNECT 1, BlueLine, GreenLine, 12, 15, 18, 19, 30, 31, 33, 34, 57, 80 & 81.
These detours may begin as soon as Thursday, July 11.
Please see the attachment regarding specific detour routes or go to https://www.ridemcts.com
Throughout the duration of the convention, MCTS encourages riders to stay up to date on detours and service changes by checking the Umo App on their mobile phone, visiting RideMCTS.com/Alerts, and following MCTS social media accounts at @RideMCTS.
